¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
I have been teaching foreign languages for over 18 years and my mission is to share my passion for other languages, cultures, travel and understanding the world in a different way. Curiosity and a love for learning are the cornerstones of every lesson.
1. Objectives
The main goal of learning a foreign language is to encourage the students to be competent in other than their first language, which is accomplished through vocabulary, grammar and communication. The long term goal is for students to work towards bilingualism. Studying another language also encourages students to respect and understand others, their languages and cultures.
Spanish is the 2nd most common language in the U.S. after English! This course is a prep for our AP Spanish program and is a bridge towards college level Spanish.
2. Materials
* three ring binder (you will receive a lot of handouts- stay organized)
* notebook or loose leaf paper
* writing utensils
3. Homework
Homework is due the following day for full credit. For late homework you get partial credit.
Every homework is worth 5- 10 points if I just check for completion and we correct it in class.
If I collect the homework (could be without notice) it is worth more (points TBD).
If you are absent it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed, and to turn your homework in.
Check the Absent Folder for the date(s) you were absent!
All completed absent/ late work needs to be placed in the bin on my desk.
All assignments need to be legible. If I cannot read it, I cannot grade it!
4. Assessments
Assessments include quizzes, tests, oral presentations, projects, participation.
Participation is very important in order to learn and to become fluent in a foreign language.
Every week you will get a grade for participation/ class work.
